This is Silvina, a 51-year-old Argentine woman. She tells us that her great-aunt was the one who taught her the basic stitches when she was 5 or 6 years old: “knit, purl, and elastic… but she put the stitches on me because they didn’t work out for me, hahaha,” she says.
She knitted her first sweater at the age of 17. “I premiered it on my graduate trip to Bariloche. From there I began to investigate on my own: first with books, magazines and, over the years and thanks to the internet, I became a self-taught weaver”, she adds very proudly.
She is also an English teacher. “I love teaching. And the best thing in life for me is to travel, as well as buying wool from the different countries that I visit”, she says enthusiastically.

She is Graciela. She is 57 years old and lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has 5 children whom she raised with love and principles. She dedicated a large part of her life to housework and, today, in addition to her work in a kindergarden, she weaves in her free time. She enjoys reading and cooking for her children and puts love in every task she does with her hands. These fabrics are a part of her love and her story.

She is María, an 86-year-old argentine woman who has been sewing since she was 14 years old. She has been working since she was very young sewing for the Navy. She had a very hard life and always faced it with love and the joy of living. She learned to weave at the age of 17 by watching women weaving on the train. A few years ago, she lost her sight, however, today she continues knitting to feel active and empowered through the hands’ work. This knit is a piece of her strength and her history.
